Learning Outcomes in this Module

If you feel like you are working harder than your students, your feedback might be "too good." In this module, we shift the focus from correcting work to creating cognitive engagement. We will introduce Dylan Wiliam’s "Golden Rule" of feedback and provide practical strategies to turn your comments into puzzles that students must solve.

By the end of this module, you will be able to:

Facilitate "Detective Work": Understand techniques that encourage students to identify and analyse their own errors instead of just correcting them.

Optimize the Workload Ratio: Evaluate your marking practices to ensure that feedback encourages more cognitive effort from students than it took you to write.
